Exciting News: Ahava Memorials Exclusive Designs Now at Uncommon Goods!

I’ve been holding onto some pretty big news for a little while now, and I am beyond thrilled to finally share it with all of you. If you’ve followed our journey at Ahava Memorials, you know that our mission has always been to transform the way we remember those we’ve lost. We believe that a life well-lived deserves more than a standard urn tucked away on a dusty shelf. It deserves art. It deserves something you can hold, feel, and cherish every single day.

That’s why this milestone feels so special: Ahava Memorials is officially partnering with Uncommon Goods to offer a collection of exclusive designs!

For those who don't know, Uncommon Goods is a platform that celebrates independent makers and unique, hand-crafted items that tell a story. They’ve always been a source of inspiration for me personally, so seeing our ash-infused ceramic memorials featured alongside such incredible artists is a dream come true. You can check out the exclusive collection right here: Ahava Memorials at Uncommon Goods.

Why This Partnership Matters

When I started Ahava Memorials, I wanted to create a bridge between the deep, often overwhelming grief of losing a loved one or a pet and the healing power of beauty. We specialize in handcrafted ceramic memorials where we actually incorporate a small amount of cremated remains directly into the glaze.

By partnering with Uncommon Goods, we’re able to bring these meaningful pieces to a much wider audience. We know that many people are sitting with the ashes of a loved one or a cherished pet in a box or a temporary urn, unsure of what to do next. They want something special, but they might not know where to look. This partnership helps us reach those people and offer them a way to keep those memories close in a beautiful, tactile form.

Three Exclusive Designs, Each with Its Own Meaning

One of the most meaningful parts of this Uncommon Goods partnership is that we’re offering three exclusive ceramic memorial designs, each created to honor remembrance in a different way.

The first is an ornament, made to keep loved ones close during the holidays and all year long. Ornaments carry so much emotional weight because they’re often tied to tradition, ritual, and the small moments that bring family memories rushing back. Hanging a memorial ornament can become a gentle annual act of remembrance, but it can also be displayed year-round as a quiet, beautiful tribute.

The second is a luminary, designed to hold a candle or LED light and bring warmth into a room. Light has always been one of the most powerful symbols in the memorial process. It represents presence, comfort, and the idea that love continues even after loss. This piece is especially meaningful for anyone who finds peace in lighting a candle and taking a moment to reflect.

The third is a vase, created for growing flowers or simply serving as a beautiful decorative piece in the home. A vase speaks to ongoing connection. It can hold fresh blooms, dried stems, or stand on its own as a work of art. For many families, flowers are part of how we mark love, memory, and renewal, so this form feels especially fitting.

Together, these exclusive designs at Uncommon Goods offer different ways to keep a loved one or pet close through art, ritual, light, and beauty.

The Science and Soul Behind the Glaze

I often get asked, "How does it actually work?" It sounds a bit like magic, but it’s actually a very careful scientific and artistic process.

When we receive a small portion of cremated remains (usually just a tablespoon or two), we carefully prepare them to be mixed into our proprietary glazes. During the firing process, the kiln reaches incredibly high temperatures. This causes the ash to fuse with the ceramic glaze, becoming a permanent part of the piece.

It’s not just "ashes in a jar." It’s the essence of your loved one or pet transformed into a durable, beautiful work of art. You can read more about the specifics on our How It Works page.

We take this responsibility very seriously. At Ahava Memorials, we treat every shipment we receive with the utmost respect and compassion. We know what these remains represent, and we are honored to be entrusted with them.

Finding the Right Tribute for You

Choosing a memorial is a deeply personal decision. Some people may feel drawn to an ornament they can bring out each season and cherish year after year. Others may find comfort in a luminary that brings a soft glow into their home, or a vase that holds flowers and becomes part of everyday life.

The exclusive designs at Uncommon Goods are perfect for those who want a simple, elegant tribute with a clear personal meaning. They also make thoughtful sympathy gifts for friends or family members who are grieving. It’s often hard to know what to say or do when someone loses a loved one. A meaningful memorial gift can gently say, "I see your pain, and I want to help you honor this memory."

Healing Through Art

There’s a beautiful quote by the artist Georges Braque: "Art is a wound turned into light."

That’s exactly how I feel about what we do at Ahava Memorials. Grief is a wound, and it can feel very dark for a long time. But when we take the physical remains of a life and turn them into something beautiful, something that catches the light or feels smooth against our skin, we are turning that wound into light.

Art allows us to process emotions that words often can’t reach. It gives us a way to externalize our internal love and sadness. Whether it’s one of our planters that allows life to grow alongside a memory, or a simple heart keepsake, art provides a pathway to healing.

What’s Next for Ahava Memorials?

While we are celebrating this partnership with Uncommon Goods, we are still hard at work here at our main studio. We are constantly experimenting with new glazes, textures, and forms. Our goal is to provide as many options as possible because every life is different, and every memorial should be, too.

If you’re just starting your search, I recommend checking out our best sellers to see what other families have found comforting. We also have a color chart to help you visualize how different glazes might look.

A Heartfelt Thank You

I want to take a moment to thank all of you. Ahava Memorials wouldn't be where it is today without the trust you place in us. Every time we receive a package in the mail, we feel the weight of the story inside. Thank you for letting us be a small part of your healing journey.

This partnership with Uncommon Goods is a big step for us, but our heart remains the same: compassionate, artistic, and dedicated to honoring the ones you love.

Please go take a look at the collection over at Uncommon Goods and let me know what you think! And as always, if you have any questions or just need someone to talk through your options with, don't hesitate to contact us.

With gratitude,
